Holstein, Germany, around 1600
Carved wood high relief. Individual relief panels divided by caryatid pilasters. Five Biblical scenes in the central section: Adam and Eve at the Tree of Knowledge, the Binding of Isaac, the Annunciation, the Nativity, and Christ’s victory. The upper and lower bands contain three rectangular panels of festoons, with lion heads with keyhole openings in the centre panels and angel heads on the sides. On the far left and right are lion heads, each surmounted by a coat of arms with letters (ABG, MGB) and a figure. Modern accessories.
